TP Aerospace Leasing has signed a contract with Danish Air Transport to provide its cycle flat rate (CFR) programme for the carrier’s fleet of five A320s.

The Danish firm has also signed a contract with Florida-based cargo carrier Western Global Airlines, which has contracted TP’s Americas division to provide its land for less (LFL) wheels and brakes programme in support of its fleet of MD11 and 747-400 freighter aircraft.

TP said the deal will help secure Western Global Airlines’ guaranteed availability and direct cost savings while eliminating turnaround-time dependency, risk of unexpected high repair cost and OEM wheels and brakes shortages.

The programme also includes access to TP Aerospace Americas’ pool of MD11 and B747-400 wheels and brakes in Orlando, Florida.

Chinese aftermarket specialist AMECO has confirmed the completion of freighter conversions on five 757-200 aircraft at its facility in Chengdu.

The fifth aircraft conversion, completed at the end of 2015, is the third for Shenzen-based carrier SF Airlines, a subsidiary of SF Express. Besides conversion services, AMECO's capabilities include overhaul services on the RB211 engine, as well as line maintenance and components services for 757-200 out of nine facilities across China.

In a statement, AMECO said: "In such a promising market, Chinese express companies are competing on delivery speed and service quality, which accelerate the purchase of their own aircraft for competitive edges, and the 757-200 converted freighter is one of their choices."

Polish MRO LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services (LOTAMS) has received an update to its EASA Part-145 certification to carry out base maintenance on 777 aircraft.

Awarded by the Civil Aviation Office of Poland, the updated Part-145 extends the scope of work on variations of the 777 aircraft powered by Trent 800 and GE90 engines, including the 777-200, 777-200LR, 777-300, 777-300ER and the 777F.

The expansion follows the Warsaw-based MRO receiving a similar update to its Part-145 certification on 787 aircraft last October.

ap&m Europe all set for a sweet ‘16

ap&m Europe, Olympia London: 1 – 2 June 2016

What’s your New Year’s resolution? Giving up smoking, cutting down on alcohol, making more time for friends and family, or maybe just getting round to using that gym membership you signed up for six years ago? The start of a new year is all about setting new goals, and ap&m Europe have their sights set on breaking a few records.

Never one for superstition, ap&m Europe is confident that its 13th year can be its biggest and best to date – and with the exhibition now at 85% capacity, the numbers are certainly pointing towards a busy few days at Olympia.

A footfall high of 3,287 visited ap&m Europe in 2015, and the recent acquisition by Penton Media means the event is now part of the Aviation Week Network – resulting in an increase in touchpoints – that promises a record high for those numbers in 2016.

The focus, as usual, will remain on connecting the airline supply chain with buyers from all over the world on both formal and informal levels, with networking the name of the game. “ap&m allows us to meet people we wouldn’t normally get to meet,” explains Stephen Taylerson, UK sales manager for Ambersil, and Antonio Da Silva Abreu, senior purchasing administrator for Luxair, agrees with Taylerson that the chance to meet contacts under one roof is invaluable. “It’s a rich experience for every buyer,” he explains. “I met many contacts who I had never met in person before. It was a good opportunity as well to get tonnes of new contacts in two days all in one location.

The ever-popular ‘Meet the Buyers’, the quick fire meeting space for airline/MRO buyers and exhibitors, returns to it’s one day format in 2016, and after 79% of buyers did business as a result of their meetings last year, you can be sure it’s going to be a popular place to be.

With ap&m Europe focusing on growing as well as it being the only MRO show based in London in 2016, all signs point to big business on the aisles of Olympia come 1 and 2 June.

ap&m Europe 2016 will take place from 1-2 June 2016, at Olympia London: visit www.apmexpo.com for details.

Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Aerospace) said it secured contracts worth S$415m ($285m) in the fourth quarter of 2015, rising from S$310m ($216m) in Q4 2014.

In its quarterly report released today (January 19), ST Aerospace said some of the contracts included line and heavy maintenance agreements for customers supporting Airbus, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas aircraft types, as well as cabin interior modifications for an unnamed airline’s fleet of E175s.

Among the component support contracts won was a landing gear agreement with Scandinavian Airlines for its 737 and CRJ900 fleets.

It also confirmed a number of agreements had been signed for its EcoPower engine wash services in Asia-Pacific, Europe and the US.

New capabilities introduced in Q4 included services on the electrical systems of the 787.

Swiss Aviation Consulting is to launch an affiliate operation in Malaysia as it looks to grow its footprint in the Asia-Pacific region.

The firm, which provides aircraft asset management services, said it chose Malaysia as its regional destination due to the availability of qualified staff who, in addition to English and the local Bahasa, speaks the languages of its clients in China, India and Indonesia.

Daniel Lütolf, managing director of Swiss Aviation Consulting, said “Southeast Asia is a hot market with the airline sector having an increasing requirement of aircraft, their financing and related services.

"With the added presence in Malaysia we pursue our strategy to follow our clients’ business needs geographically as well as with respect to high quality services.”
